Oats Porridge by The Dearist | Recipe


  • Almond Milk, 1 cup
  • Water, 1/2 cup
  • Old Fashioned Oats / Rolled Oats, 1/2 cup (Note: Do not use instant oats for this recipe)
  • Apple, 1/4 cup, diced
  • Cinnamon, 1/2 tsp 
  • Himalayan Salt, 1/2 tsp 
  • Black Pepper, a pinch, a pinch 
  • Honey / Maple Syrup (optional)
  • Unsalted seeds / Nuts / Raisins / Dried Cranberries, to garnish 
  • Peanut Butter / Date Paste / Almond Butter, 1 tsp (optional) 


  • In a small saucepan, add the almond milk, oats, water, apple, cinnamon, and Himalayan salt, and let the mixture come to a boil
  • Cook for about 5-7 minutes over medium heat, stirring occasionally
  • Once cooked, empty the mixture into a bowl and garnish with unsalted nuts, dried fruits, and/or seeds
  • Add a nut butter or date paste, if needed
  • Sprinkle some freshly ground pepper and finish with a drizzle of honey / maple syrup, if needed
