Oats Porridge by The Dearist | Recipe
INGREDIENTS :
- Almond Milk, 1 cup
- Water, 1/2 cup
- Old Fashioned Oats / Rolled Oats, 1/2 cup (Note: Do not use instant oats for this recipe)
- Apple, 1/4 cup, diced
- Cinnamon, 1/2 tsp
- Himalayan Salt, 1/2 tsp
- Black Pepper, a pinch, a pinch
- Honey / Maple Syrup (optional)
- Unsalted seeds / Nuts / Raisins / Dried Cranberries, to garnish
- Peanut Butter / Date Paste / Almond Butter, 1 tsp (optional)
METHOD :
- In a small saucepan, add the almond milk, oats, water, apple, cinnamon, and Himalayan salt, and let the mixture come to a boil
- Cook for about 5-7 minutes over medium heat, stirring occasionally
- Once cooked, empty the mixture into a bowl and garnish with unsalted nuts, dried fruits, and/or seeds
- Add a nut butter or date paste, if needed
- Sprinkle some freshly ground pepper and finish with a drizzle of honey / maple syrup, if needed
