Cinnamon Buns Recipe

For the dough
1 cup lukewarm milk
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup castor sugar
2 eggs
4 + 1/2 cup all purpose flour
2+1/2 tsp active dry yeast

For the filling:

1/4 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup lightly packed brown sugar
3 tbsp cinnamon powder

For the frosting:
1 cup cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup butter, softened
1 cup icing sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract


For the dough:

  1. In a mixing bowl, use all the dough ingredients to mix and combine so that the dough begins to come together.
  2. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl and let it rest in a warm place for one hour.
  3. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough into a rectangle.

For the filling:

  1. In a bowl, combine all the filling ingredients. Spread the filling on the dough rectangle. Roll the dough into a log and cut into slices.
  2. Place the slices in individual ramekins or a large baking dish. Rest for another 30 minutes in a warm place.
  3. Bake at 180C for 15-20 minutes.

For the frosting:

  1. To make the frosting, beat cream cheese and butter until the mixture is fluffy. Add sugar and vanilla and beat until well combined.
