Classic Pesto Sauce Recipe

Add to toasted bread or flavour pizzas and pasta, the classic basil sauce is an absolute delight.

Serves: 5-6 people


4 cloves of garlic
2 cups basil leaves
4 tbsp pine nuts
½ cup extra virgin olive oil
¾  cup parmesan cheese, grated
Salt to taste
Black pepper to taste


  1. Blitz garlic, basil leaves, pine nuts, parmesan cheese and a dash of salt and pepper. With the mixer running, slowly drizzle in olive oil through the feed tube on the top, and puree well.
  2. Open the cover and scrape the sides with a rubber spatula and mix together. If the pesto is too thick, add a tablespoon of water. Cover and refrigerate until you are ready to use it.
  3. Use the pesto as a spread on toast, with pasta, with tomatoes on bruschetta, with grilled chicken or mushrooms, or on your own gourmet pizzas
